Neurodiversity-affirming therapy.

Who we are

Therapy at Divergent Counseling, PLLC is provided by Marissa Reeves, MSW, LSWAIC. Marissa began her career in community mental health in 2018, serving individuals experiencing homelessness in Seattle. She provided diagnostic assessments, counseling, and case management during her time there.

In 2021, she had her daughter, Lyra, who was later diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. That lead Marissa on her own journey of self discovery and, eventually, her own autism and ADHD diagnoses.

She was confronted by the lack of mental health services for autistic individuals so she decided to pivot into private practice to bridge that gap and Divergent Counseling, PLLC was born!

Marissa’s approach to therapy is person-centered, pulling from several modalities to help clients identify and build on their strengths, process traumatic experiences, and recognize unhelpful thought patterns keeping them stuck.

About Our Services

We offer individual therapy for adults (18+) via telehealth. We are not able to provide in-person therapy at this time but are hoping to add some in-person hours in the future for clients who prefer in-person sessions.

Therapeutic Approach

Strengths-based - Every person has inherent or acquired strengths and our therapy model is built on identifying and utilizing those strengths to move toward self-actualization.

Collaborative - The therapy process should be collaborative from start to finish. We will work together to define your goals, determine session frequency, evaluate progress, and decide when it’s time to terminate services.

Transparent - You should know what is going on in the therapy space. Not only is this trauma-informed, it is practical. Being informed will allow you generalize skills gained in therapy out into the world.

Flexible - Therapy should be tailored to the unique individual. We pull from trauma-informed CBT, interpersonal therapy, psychodynamic, and solutions-focused therapy to name a few. We may rely on some modalities more than others depending on a client’s needs and preferences.

Accessible - Let’s work together to identify accommodations that make the therapy space most effective for you. One of the benefits of telehealth is getting to participate in therapy in an environment that is comfortable for you.
